State Representative Brady Piñero Walkinshaw today announced that he received the endorsements of the national Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund and the Latino Victory Fund, in the first ever joint announcement between the two organizations.

“I am honored to receive the endorsements of these two impactful organizations. Now more than ever, we need a new generation of leadership in Congress who represents our growing diversity as a nation. Together, we can continue to grow the diversity of our representation and ensure that Seattle makes history by sending a bold progressive choice to Congress,” said Walkinshaw.

In a statement, Victory Fund President & CEO Aisha C. Moodie-Mills said “Brady’s commitment to smart public policy that addresses the real concerns of constituents makes him the best candidate not only for LGBT people and Latinos, but for all residents.  His positive agenda has inspired his community and our organizations, and we are committed to supporting his candidacy through November.”

Walkinshaw has been endorsed by more than 30 colleagues from the state legislature, and dozens of community members and advocates. The historic joint announcement can be found here.

Seattle Times Endorses Our campaign!

Today, I am ecstatic to announce that the Seattle Times has endorsed our campaign for Congress!  Together, we can build a more prosperous future for all our residents by focusing on local issues including minimum wage, gun control, civil rights, and combating the adverse effects of climate change. With help of our whole community, Seattle can be a champion for the progressive movement in America.

As the Times stated:

In a big field of candidates to replace McDermott and redefine the role, state Rep. Brady Walkinshaw stands out. The Democrat has the capacity to be a progressive leader from one of the nation’s most left-leaning districts. He also has the temperament, pragmatic instincts and drive to squeeze legislation out of the gridlocked Congress.”

Thank you to the Seattle Times editorial board for this wonderful endorsement.

Today, our political system does not work for the vast majority of Americans.  In fact, it doesn’t work for the vast majority of Washingtonians.  For our economy and our climate to work for the kids my husband and I hope to have in the future, things have to change.  Despite the prosperity that some in our region are experiencing, too many people are being left behind.  The promise of our region is not being shared.
